musee de quai branly….

I really wanted to go have a look at this building whilst in Paris, its pretty amazing as well as having a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower…

coucou coco….

Whils in Paris i came across the work of a painter I didn’t know of before: Marie Laurencin…. she was a part of Picasso’s circle, and a lover of the poet Appolinaire. She was associated with the cubists but retained her own extremely feminine style. She also worked alongside Diaghilev designing stage sets for the Ballets Russe.I liked her paintings very much, the pastel colours were beautiful, and I particularly loved the 3rd one shown, a portrait of Coco Chanel.

looking at art….

Lots of very cultural activities in Paris due to the freezing cold and the benefits of beautifully heated galleries… here are some wonderful colourful bits from the Pompidou…

Apperture……

The Institut du Monde Arabe…. as two photographers how could we not love a building where the light through the wondows is controlled by intricate mechanisms of appertures creating beautiful patterns of light like a giant Islamic pierced screen…

paris diary….

Just back from 4 days in Paris with one of my oldest and dearest friends…. despite the arctic temparatures which forced us to defrost with plenty of red wine we managed to see lots of wonderful art and architecture as well as shopping and eating… all in all the prefect mix…

snowmen…..

Yesterday morning I was driving to a shoot and back over Clapham Common and Wandsworth Common and I had to keep leaping out of the car to photograph snowmen… I was shocked how many weren’t properly equipped with carrot noses… But there were an impressive variety anyway… as well as some more creative offerings…

on location….

I was lucky enough to be working in an absolutely amazing location house this week for East… the mastershipwrights house in glamorous deptford… it was full of beautiful soft colours, textures and treasures….. shooting spring/ summer in the little wooden hut by the river was a decidedly chilly experience but i can imagine how lovely it would be in july with a gin and tonic in hand…
